Paths around Peebles
Walks on countryside paths around the Scottish Borders near Peebles.
This booklet includes nine routes starting from Peebles in Central Tweeddale, two routes starting from Eddleston and routes in Cardrona Forest. The area is ideal for walking because the town is surrounded by rolling hills, includes areas of extensive woodland and offers gentle walks along the banks of the River Tweed. The routes are especially suitable for walkers. Other users may not be able to use all parts of the routes where there are steps or stiles.
The routes described range from short strolls to more strenuous hill climbs. Each route has a summary containing distance, estimated time to complete, start and finish points and an indication of the terrain to be expected. The routes include much historical and natural interest which is alluded to in the text. However, further information about Peebles history and natural resources is available from the Tourist Information Centre in Peebles or from local bookshops and other outlets.
