Nomad Beat Community Music School was the vision of Alison Cameron who for 4 years had the music shop in the Northgate in Peebles. This vision became a reality when Nomad Beat opened its doors in January 2010 at Cavalry Park, Peebles with the aim of making music tuition and participation affordable and accessible to all who wished to enjoy it. In 2009 Alison was the recipient of the Robert NobleTrophy in recognition of her work with young people and the arts in Peebles. Over the past 5 years Nomad Beat has become well known in the community with Alison as the driving force providing workshops and tuition in the schools and providing Nomad Beat students to play at various community events, such as the Peebles Arts Festival, Tweedlove and Innerleithen Music Festival to name but a few.
